Getting to Kamloops

 

Where is Kamloops & How do I Get There?

Kamloops by Car (or Bike)

Kamloops is situated at the junction of Highway #1, Highway #5 and Highway #97. It is 365 km north and east of Vancouver, 623 km west of Calgary and 605 km north north-east of Seattle.

If travelling from Vancouver, take Highway #1 east to Hope, then Highway #5 (Coquihalla route) east/north through Merritt to Kamloops. On approaching Kamloops, take Exit #369 Columbia St. to City Centre. Stay straight on Columbia St. West then turn left onto Summit Drive and follow it to the bottom of the hill. Bear right onto Victoria St. West.

The Start/Finish control is located at the Kamloops Curling Club, 700 Victoria St.

Kamloops is also serviced by plane, train and bus.

Plane

Air Canada: 1-888-247-2262 The airlines will take your bike bagged or boxed for an additional fee.

Train

ViaRail: 1-888-VIARAIL The train will take your bike boxed at no additional fee and boxes can be purchased at the station for $5-$8.

Amtrak: 1-800-USA-RAIL runs to Vancouver from Seattle and they will take a limited number of bicycles per journey.

Bus

Greyhound Bus: 1-800-661-8747 The bus does not take bikes as luggage, it goes by courier, shipped separately. The bikes must be boxed and there is a minimum $10 fee.

Thompson Rivers University

We have negotiated a special rate for participants in the 2016 Rocky Mountain 1200 to stay in the residences at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) located adjacent to the Wrap-up Breakfast location. The TRU residences are situated on the hill overlooking the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers approximately 3.9 kilometres from the start of the ride at the Kamloops Curling Club. The accommodations consist of either two bedroom suites (with two private bedrooms with double beds, private kitchenette and three piece bathroom) for 99.95/per night plus taxes for two people or four bedrooms suites (with four private bedrooms with double beds, private kitchenette and 2 three-piece bathrooms) for $159.95/per night plus taxes for four people. Additional people are $10 per person per night.
